Brazilian legends Sepultura no doubt polarize opinion when it comes to fans loving the Max Cavalera-era and always wanting him to rejoin the group, if only to appease fans. If people took the time to look into how Max left Sepultura then I would they will understand why. However I took a punt purchasing their 2011 outing Kairos which I instantly loved. Yes, it’s no doubt that it was a massive punt but actually it was well-paid punt. It’s good!
Please note that Kairos was the first Sepultura album I listened to since purchasing a recent copy of the classic album Arise [1991]. My Dad got me into Sepultura first, and the interest in Kairos was well deserved.
So, moving on from Kairos the music heard on the blistering new single from the forthcoming album The Mediator Between the Head And Hands Must Be The Heart coming out on October 28 via Nuclear Blast, it still sounds heavy with Andreas’ guitar licks are prominent throughout. In fact the entire band are on fire and with the new drummer – forgot his name – now fully entered into the fold, it’s no surprise that I think this album will be strong.
I think as a single this tune stands strong and it will no doubt, again, polarize opinion between the fans. However I love both Sepultura and Soulfly, whom released their crushing groove-bomb Savages, and I will definitely be picking this album up when it’s released. October will be a busy month with a ton of releases coming out, so the plastic will be highly abused next month. Aieeee….
Roll on the 28 October.
RATING: 3 / 5**
**Forgive the low rating, but it’s meant to show how much I like it.
